Community Services
The Kern County Medical Society (KCMS) is a local, non-profit organization
of member physicians who are committed to the delivery of quality medical care
and to maintaining the highest principles of medicine. Since is beginning in
1897, the KCMS and its members have been active in responding to and meeting
the health care needs of our community. Through its staff and active committees,
the Kern County Medical Society provides community services that help to improve
the lives of Kern County residents in many ways. Following is a partial list
of community services that KCMS provides:
Speakers Bureau
This community service offers experts who strive to educate and make the public
aware of health care issues that often effect us in today's ever-changing society.
Our speakers are available to speak to churches, schools, businesses, civic
and other organizations free of charge. Individuals from our pool of speakers
also participate as presenters during the BC Fall Medical Lecture Series; a
program designed to provide continuing education to local nurses. Contact the
KCMS office at 661/325-9025 to arrange a speaker.
Scholarships
KCMS members contribute funds and award scholarships to local students pursuing
degrees in health care fields.
Mini-Internship Programs
Kern County Medical Society's Mini-Internship Programs provide a unique opportunity
for community business and government leaders, and local high school students
to follow in the footsteps of local physicians. A program geared toward community
leaders is held in the fall, while high school students can participate in a
program scheduled the first of summer. To obtain more information on this program
or to note your desire to participate, contact the KCMS office 661/325-9025
or email spalumbo@igalaxy.net
